Special Bible Verses

Meditating on and memorizing Bible verses helped many people greatly through the ages. Try memorizing these as you get ready in the morning, while on the way to work and as you go to sleep. This has brought about some of the greatest blessings in my life. I pray meditating on and memorizing the verses below will do the same and more for you!

These verses are from three English translations of the Bible. NASB is New American Standard, commonly used in America. NIV is New International Version, also commonly used in America. KJV is the old King James Version from 1611 and still popular in America but used less and less. Go to BibleGateWay.com for complete Bibles in many languages.

History of the Bible
The Bible originally was written in Hebrew and Greek. Teams of scholars (not just a couple guys) examine the original Hebrew and Greek words and translate them into modern languages. As languages evolve and new information is learned, updates are made.  Go to this Zondervan page for more information on the Bible's history.

Warnings about the Dangers of Astrology, Witchcraft and the Occult

Deuteronomy 18:10-12  10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.  NASB

Isaiah 8:19-21  When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn. 21 They will pass through the land hard-pressed and famished, and it will turn out that when they are hungry, they will be enraged and curse their king and their God as they face upward.   NASB

Leviticus 19:31  ‘Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.  NASB

Leviticus 20:6  ‘As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.  NASB

Isaiah 47:13-15   13 , “You are wearied with your many counsels, Let now the astrologers, Those who prophesy by the stars, Those who predict by the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you., 14 “Behold, they have become like stubble, Fire burns them; They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame, There will be no coal to warm by, Nor a fire to sit before! 15 “So have those become to you with whom you have labored, Who have trafficked with you from your youth, Each has wandered in his own way; There is none to save you.  NASB

PSALMS & PROVERBS

Psalm 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Ps 4:8  I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.  NIV

Ps 37:4  Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.  NIV Caution: God does not give you whatever you now want, he gives you good DESIRES and satisfaction/joy.

Ps 119:11  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.  NIV

Prv 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  KJV

Prv 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.  KJV

Prv 14:15  The naive believes everything, But the prudent man conciders his steps.  NASB

Prv 16:3  Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.  KJV

Prv 22:1  A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. KJV

Prv 31:30  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.  NIV

LONG PASSAGES

I Cor 13:1-8  If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging symbol. 2)If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3)If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. ... NIV

Gal 6:1-10  Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5 for each one should carry his own load. 6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.  NIV

MATTHEW CHAPTER 5 (Sermon on the Mount by Jesus)

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savor wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am, come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, til all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of the least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgement;

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his bother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar and there rememberest that thy bother hath aught against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, til thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced comitteth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem: for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Give to him that asketh thee and from him that would borrow of thee turn though not away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth the rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
